New season dawns for photographic society
By Democrat Reporter editor@dundalkdemocrat.ie @dundalkdemocrat

A new season of high hopes has just begun for Dundalk Photographic Society, one of Ireland’s most successful amateur camera clubs.

Recently crowned Division B winners in the Photographic Society of America (PSA) International Club Championship, they will now compete against the top amateur clubs from across the globe in Division A. DPS, no strangers to international success will not be daunted by this challenge and have within their membership some of the most decorated amateur photographers in Ireland and a new wave of talent surging through their ranks.

Last season also saw the club finishing 3rd overall in the Irish National Club Championships, 12th overall in the FIAP Club World Cup and also saw members pick up multiple individual awards in national and international competitions.

Newly elected club chairman, Damien O’Malley puts this success down to the inclusive set up of the club.

“DPS have such a broad and varied skill set amongst its membership and when such a group of people share knowledge on a common interest such as Photography, something good always happens, we're not afraid of reinventing the wheel here in DPS”.

Dundalk Photographic Society also hold digital photography classes each year for beginners and more advanced snappers who want to gain a better understanding of taking and processing images.

This year’s course starts at 7.30PM on Wednesday September 14th in the club room above McGeoughs Bar in Roden Place and runs for 6 consecutive weeks every Wednesday.

The course costs €100 and anyone interested can contact dundalkphotosec@gmail.com. New members are also more than welcome and info can be found on the club website www.dundalkphoto.com
