Home town style guru done good

WITH Fashion practically running through her veins who better to take beauty and style advice from than our very own Caroline McElroy.

Stylist and presenter Caroline is making it easier than ever to access with her very popular fashion and beauty blog www.carolinemcelroy.com

“It's for anyone who loves their fashion and beauty but is too busy to do it themselves. It's a time saver and a quick fix for those out there who would like to see the tried and tested on a real person before. It does what it says on the tin! It's basically a one stop fashion fix that has morphed into beauty, reviews and recommendations”.

Originally designed to promote local services, the focus is now nationwide.

“At the start it was to help promote local businesses while promoting my own services. It was a very new thing to be doing at the time but it just felt right. In the last two years the blog has grown tremendously and excuse the pun, but the beauty of it is that I can work from home and around my two school going girls. So it's gone beyond helping local business, to reaching a nationwide following, which I'm so grateful for”.

With a background steeped in fashion for Caroline, blogging was a natural next step,

“I had dipped in and out of modelling though college and through my 20s so had always a thing for fashion. At the time, there was no such thing as personal stylists, only Trinny and Suzanna frightening the life out of people on TV.

It was a lightbulb moment when friends asked me to help them shop, so after returning to college, I set up MYA Image Consultancy over ten years ago.

The business morphed and changed into what it is now, just like I did and the rest is history.”

Most important to Caroline is that her message is a positive one,

“It's all about the feel good factor. There's no negativity allowed on the page. There's enough out there already! It's about making the most of yourself, getting inspired, finding what suits you while having a little fun’.

Though she will be the first to say that she doesn’t skirt any issues,

“Let's just say I'm not afraid to show the ugly truth. I cover aspects of skincare, like micro needling (with photographic evidence) and skin improvement, semi-permanent make up, slimming wraps, spray tans to hair care to wearing glasses or pulling an outfit together and outfit inspirations. There's something in there for everyone I'm hoping!’

“Sounds totally cheesy but the friendships I have made through the work has been phenomenal. From the followers to the business owners, I couldn't have a nicer bunch in my corner. I have found people to be incredibly generous, and I have a very genuine group of followers.

It helps that I love the work involved, I like the people I'm involved with and the craic we have working together is mighty!”

And for anyone thinking of starting a blog Caroline has this to say,

“I would tell them to find their love and their niche, and forget about what others are doing. There are so many bloggers out there now, it's difficult to get noticed. It's a cliche, but being yourself is the key”.
