Award named after local thespian Mary Cosgrave

Many great names have graced the stage of Dundalk Town Hall over the years during festivals, drama productions and musicals.

The Táin Players, made their own unique contribution to local drama during the years 1996 to 2004, with shows including The Miracle Worker, The Diary of Ann Frank & Blood Brothers The Play, to name just a few.

Throughout this time, Mary Cosgrave was a leading light of our group. Sadly, Mary passed away after a lengthy illness last August, and although her loss was felt most deeply by Brian and their children, anyone who knew Mary will remember with a smile, her great talent and her wicked sense of humour which remained a constant throughout.

In recognition of Mary’s contribution, her colleagues in the Táin Players, Brendan Rooney, Marguerite Howard and Ita Laverty are delighted to announce the Mary Cosgrove Annual Award for Contribution to Dundalk Drama.

To this end, they have commissioned a unique bronzed statue from local artist and sculptor Sandra Bell – “The Final Bow” in Mary’s honour.

Groups are invited to enter for the award by contacting Brendan Rooney Ph: 087-7555656 or if further information is required.
