The incredibly talented St. Vincent’s Transition Year students are set to tread the boards in what will mark their tenth consecutive school musical, staging the worldwide smash-hit High School Musical.

Following the enormous success of last year’s show which was entirely sold out for its three day run, directors Ms. Victoria O’Hagan and Ms. Laura Jones are bringing this high-energy musical extravaganza to Dundalk this May.

Inspired by the 2006 movie starring Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens, the musical follows the story of the High School basketball star Troy and Gabriella, a maths genius. The budding romance between this most unlikely of couples threatens to unseat Queen Bee Sharpay and turn the cliquey world of East High school upside down. Follow the thrills and spills as Troy and Gabriella navigate a difficult course attempting to break down the barriers that divide them, bridging the gaps between the divided school community.

The musical is brought to life by the visually stunning set created by the immensely talented artist and teacher Ms. Leanne Mullen who this year has taken inspiration from the work of Banksy, the famed graffiti artist whose creations, often taking the form of socio-political commentary, are eminently recognisable. Innovative costumiers, Ms. Anne Stacey Coburn and Ms. Dervilia Hargadon have conceived of, designed and created a unique and dramatic wardrobe with custom-made costumes for the entire cast.

The curtains will be raised on this exciting premiere in St. Vincent’s school hall where the show will run from Thursday May 19th until Saturday May 21st. Curtains up at 7pm sharp, doors open from 6.30.
