Ardee CS on historic roll

It was a historic week for Ardee Community School Gaelic football teams. On Tuesday February 19, the Senior Gaelic football team beat Mountmellick Community School in the North Leinster Final.

It was a historic week for Ardee Community School Gaelic football teams. On Tuesday February 19, the Senior Gaelic football team beat Mountmellick Community School in the North Leinster Final.

Played under lights in St. Lomans, Mullingar this was a game that was in the balance with ten minutes to go with Ardee winning by one point.

In the final ten minutes however, Ardee took control of the game and won on a score line of Ardee Community School 1-17 Mountmellick Community School 0-9.

Ardee CS: Niall Carrie, David Carroll, Michael Smith, Paul Taaffe, Conor Keenan, Emmet Duffy, Alan Matthews (0-1), Neil Reilly,, Kevin Traynor(0-2), Conor McCullagh(0-1), Ciaran Scriven, Terry Donegan, Ryan Burns (0-9) martin Duffy(1-4) and Ryan Rooney.

U14 Glory

On Thursday February 21, it was the turn of the U14 team to play Cnoc Mhuire, Granard in their North Leinster Final.

Ardee trailed Cnoc Mhuire for most of the match.

In injury time however with Ardee trailing by one point a quick free was taken and Craig Corrigan blasted the ball to the Granard net.

The final whistle went from the kick out and the celebrations started.

This was the first time that Ardee Community School won the U14 North Leinster.

They now go on to play Bagenalstown from Carlow in the Leinster final on Tuesday, March 12.

Through to Leinster Final

The following day, three days after winning the North Leinster Final, the Senior team were back in action against Rathangan, Kildare in the Leinster semi-final.

There was no evidence of tiredness, however, as Ardee Comunity School totally outplayed their opponents from start to finish.

At halftime Ardee, were six points ahead, thanks largely to a penalty and some wonderful points from man of the match, Ryan Burns.

In the second half, Ardee continued to dominate and ended up winning on a score line of Ardee Community School 2-13, Rathangan 0-7

Best for the winners were Paul Taaffe, Conor Keenan, Kevin Traynor, Ryan Burns and Ryan Rooney.

Ardee Community School now play Lucan CBS in the Leinster Final. This game is due to be played in Dunganny, Meath on Tuesday, 5th March, at 12 noon.
