A fumbled late goal from Roche Emmets’ Padraig Callaghan saw the North Louth men into the semi finals of this year’s Intermediate football championship tonight in Haggardstown.
A tremendous score from Na Piarsaigh’s sub Gerard Smith looked to have given the Rock Road men the game with just a minute of injury time left.
However A long ball in from Enda Murphy deceived the Na Piarsaigh defence and Callaghan got the final touch to seal Roche’s place in the last four.
The result is a credit to Roche who had to battle for all of the second half with fourteen men following the sending off of Barry O’Hare.
O’Hare had been instrumental in providing and scoring most of Roche’s early scores, but the North Louth men fought back and a hotly contested second half eventually went their way.
