Following discussions at the recent Louth County Board meeting, there is the possibility that the County’s new GAA stadium could be built on land beside the Dundalk Retail Park.

While the new 11,000 County ground was initially planned for the DKIT Campus, it has now emerged that if the College were to purchase the JJB facility at the retail park the new stadium could be built on that site instead.

DKIT is in talks to potentially purchase JJB and use it as the college’s new sports centre.

The new plans for the County Ground involves the construction of a stadium on land beside the JJB facility (currently owned by Dundalk Town Council), with car parking facilities also being provided for the new ground.
