PARENTS who want their children to learn how to swim in time for the summer holidays can make the most of the next ten weeks by enrolling them in the new course of swimming lessons at Aura Dundalk Leisure Centre.
Aura Swim Academy is ideal for children who want to learn how to swim or to improve existing swimming skills on the ten week course, which starts on Friday, May 25.
“Family holidays are so much more enjoyable when children know how to swim. We can teach even the most nervous child to swim in just ten weeks and that skill could also help to save their life,” said Josephine Pepper, Operations Manager at Aura Dundalk Leisure Centre.
The course is specially designed to assess and assign children to classes which reflect their ability instead of their age. This ensures that they get to learn alongside youngsters of a similar level and this is the first step towards building their confidence in the water.
“The course starts with the basics of making sure that children feel comfortable in the water. They are shown how to enter and exit the pool safely, how to float on their front and back and how to complete simple water movements.
“The classes are also about having fun and we work with children to develop their confidence and swim strokes. We also help them with their breathing techniques and teach them how to tread water,” said Josephine
Hundreds of children from Dundalk have already learned to swim at Aura Swim Academy whose success rests in the fact that it allows children to progress through eight levels.
Each level focuses on learning and developing new swimming skills.
Participants are assessed on week eight of the course and children progressing through its eight levels receive a graduation certificate for each level that they complete.
