A DUNDALK-based interior designer is appearing in ‘Roomers’ - a new eight-part interior design programme which helps people to transform a room in their home.

Anne-Marie Hamill from Hamilton Interiors is one of three designers who were picked from 100 designers to take part in the television show which is airing on RTE 1 on Sundays at 8.30pm.

“We are really excited about appearing in the show. We were lucky to have been picked from the 100 or so designers who previously designed for ‘Showhouse’,” said Anne-Marie.

In ‘Roomers’ homeowners are paired up with Anne-Marie or one of the other interior designers who help them transform one room in their home. Each week the designers work with three different homeowners in the same area, each hoping to produce the best transformation.

“The concept behind the show is to pit Ireland’s top three designers against each other every week. Each designer gets a room to transform. We all have different styles and personalities which makes it fun to watch,” she said.

“It’s exciting TV for veiwers as mostly people are making the best of what they’ve got, which is what this show is all about. Rooms vary from bedrooms, bathrooms, music rooms to kitchens and budgets vary from e1,000 to e30,000.”

According to Anne-Marie, many familiar faces from Co Louth will feature in the series from tradespeople to local shops. Artwork produced by Adrienne Finerty from Blackrock featured in the first episode of the series, which aired on Sunday, March 27.

A nurse and midwife turned interior designer, Anne-Marie was named the proud winner of the new business category at the Louth County Enterprise Board

(LCEB) Enterprise Awards 2008.
