Town water project

DUNDALK Town Council is to carry out water conservation inspections to save on the town’s water supply.

Forty per cent of all the town’s water is lost through leakage or faults in pipes and this project aims to try and remedy that.

The budget for the work is E7.49m and will cover 26km of mains.

Consulting engineers Ryan Hanley have been employed by Louth County Council to carry out the work and make proposals.

A site investigation will be carried out between now and April.

Cllr Martin Bellew said that many people were worried that is waht water metres were being installed, as the checks have already started.

The initial checks will take place at 28 points around the town.

The project is funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
