It is that time of year again when the Tree Council is asking people to celebrate all things trees in their lives.

In Louth, Louth Tidy Towns, together and Louth County Council Environment Section, will hold a mentoring project for Tidy Towns Activists at St. Peter’s National School, Dromiskin and at Blackrock Playground, Blackrock, on 8th March. Forest gardening, environmental activism, biodiversity and community celebrations are the themes of this event. Mutual Ground will bring together Tidy Towns groups from across Louth to learn from two successful community gardening projects located in Dromiskin and Blackrock. These projects have featured intergenerational collaboration, creative expression, ecological gardening and community gatherings. Mutual Ground is a project promoting active citizenship for the European Year of Citizens 2013. Anyone is welcome to come along including representatives from schools, community associations and special interest groups. Further information can be got from info@groundswell.ie

National Tree, which is organised by the Tree Council of Ireland with the support of Coillte, will take place from 3-9 March. The primary aim of National Tree Week is to encourage people to plant more trees and the emphasis in 2013 will be on planting trees that provide a food source for humans, birds, bees and other wildlife.

National Tree Week is an opportune chance for people to do something positive for their local landscape such as planting trees with your community.
