With over 90 events listed, the ‘Land of Legends’ will be full of life for the Louth Gathering 2013. Louth is now in the top three, per head of population, for events being held nationwide in the areas of festivals, sport, the arts, reunions or just plain and simple fun and there is something to suit all tastes.

The Louth Gathering Calendar of Events brochure was launched at a special event held in the Crowne Plaza hotel, Dundalk, where various project organisers celebrated their work to date with the Louth Gathering Steering Committee headed by RTE TV’s, ‘Dragon’, Gavin Duffy.

Also present at the function was Jim Miley, Project Director of The Gathering; Louth Cathaoirleach, Cllr Finnan McCoy; County Manager, Joan Martin and Mairead Conway, IPB Insurance.

A special appearance from ‘Queen Maeve’ along with ‘Cúchulainn’ and his hound, who will be returning for the June Táin March, was also warmly received as was a presentation of The Gathering History Project. It is the only project of its kind in the country asking those coming back to the county to record their life experiences.

Speaking at the launch of the Louth Calendar of Events, Louth Gathering Co-Coordinator Adrian O’Sullivan said: “We are living up to our branding that Louth is a Land of Legends, and is also full of life. We have a tremendous amount of events planned for 2013, with many hours of hard work going into the pre-event planning alone. We would love if people help spread the word and let our friends and family coming home this year know just what we have on offer for The Gathering 2013.”
