THE Ardee Concert Band is very grateful to the many people in the local community who supported their recent church gate collection in Ardee and Ballapousta on the weekend of March 23 and 24. The people of Ardee and surrounding area are always very generous and supportive towards the Band, said PRO Sinéad Nutley.

On Saturday 23 March 130 youth members attended a movie themed disco at the Bohemian Centre, Ardee.

There were many stars present on the night, from James Bond and Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz to Toy Story’s own Cowgirl Jessie to the teenage mutant Ninja turtles.

A taste of Hollywood had come back to the old Bohemian Cinema in Ardee.

They all took part in Easter themed games such as egg and spoon races, pass the egg parcel, a fancy dress competition and there was an Easter egg for everyone in the audience.

Thanks go out to Sinéad Nutley and Aisling Reilly for all the hard work, to parents and the younger senior band members for helping out on the day.

The band now have a serious few weeks ahead as they prepare for the IABCB National Championships in University of Limerick on 6 April.

Both, the intermediate band under the direction of John Gaynor and the senior band under the baton of Brendan Breslin will be out to compete and smash records in both their respected sections.
