Sinn Fein outlined their alternative budget ahead of today’s budget during at a launch last week.
Speaking at the launch Sinn Fein President Gerry Adams said that he and his party believe that the country’s tax system should be “more equitable”, and that those “with the broadest shoulders should bear the greatest strain.”
“This is the 7th Austerity Budget and it has been proven that it does not work. “Our budget proposal has been costed by the government is accurate, so this not a case of mathematics.
“People need to be given a break. “
Sinn Fein would eliminate the Local Property Tax (LPT), aswell as introduce wealth taxes and extra income taxes for high earners.
