Dunleer AC’s Quinn reclaims 10k title

Martin Quinn was the clear winner of the 2012 Dundalk 10k to retain the title he won last year in 2010, his time this year was a brisk 31.38.

Micheál Mulligan finished in 26th in 39.42, 2nd in the over 50 section.

In the ladies race, Sandra Doheny was sixth overall in 44.22, while Mary Fitzpatrick broke the one hour mark for the first time in 54.30.

In the half marathon, David Carrie finished fourth in 1.15.48 and also in the top ten was Graham Townsend having a super race in 1.20.24.

Brendan Sharkey and Pat Fitzpatrick raced together and both were rewarded finishing under the magic 1.30 barrier, with Brendan 27th 1.29.04 and Pat 28th in 1.29.17.

Paddy Connolly ran a personal best in 48th place 1.29.17.

In the ladies half marathon Karen Costello and Aileen Carrie worked hard together and both raced into the top twelve, with Karen 10th in a new personal best of 1.38.48 and Aileen in 11th 1.39.14.

At the recent Dublin graded meeting in Morton Stadium in Santry, Dunleer juniors Carl Dunne and Shane Walshe had good season openers in the 800m with 2.02 and 2.05 respectively.
