The National Indoor Championships for the Masters (age 35+) was held in the new facilities at Athlone Institute of Technology over the weekend.

North East Runners had two athletes competing. Brian Lynch, who recently entered the Over 60 age group, demolished the existing Irish record when we won the event over 1500m in 4.37mins. Brian took over seven seconds off the previous best for what we’re sure will be his first of many new Irish records in this new age group for him.

Brian McCluskey had his first indoor run when he competed at the 3000m in the Over 35 age group. He placed 5th in a time of 9.13mins.

Club membership fee of €25 is now due which remains one of the cheapest athletic clubs to join.
