North East Runners, along with Harp AC, are pleased to host the Alec Fennell 5km road race on Friday June 28 at the Old Newry Road cul-de-sac.
This will be the 9th running of the event to honour our club founder who passed away at a young age through illness in 2005. This is the first time we have hosted the event on the road as previous editions were in the Furry Glen on the Carrick Road, but that area is no longer in use.
We are indebted to Cullen Auto Parts on the Coes Road and Country Fresh who have agreed to sponsor the event. The event is only €5 with all proceeds going to Cancer Charities.
Registration can be made through the club’s Facebook page or on registration day in the Lisdoo on Saturday June 22 between 11.30am and 1pm in the bar. Numbers collection will be advised later. Registration can also be made on the day if places are available as we have a limit of 200.
We will also have childrens races over 300 metres beginning at 7pm with the main event at 7.30pm. There will be two juvenile races up to 11 and 12 and over.
