The parents and students of Dundalk’s newest post-primary school gathered together on Saturday May 24th for Coláiste Chú Chulainn’s inaugural school forum.
In anticipation of their school’s historic first day in Autumn 2014, the founding students of Coláiste Chú Chulainn, along with their parents and future teachers assembled to plan and prepare for the school’s bright future. Principal Deirdre Uí Liatháin welcomed the whole school community on a morning filled with information. Highlights of the school forum included a sneak peak at the new school uniform in its final stages of design, updates on the student iPad initiative and an opportunity for both parents and students to contribute to the school’s ethos and code for positive behaviour.
The inaugural school forum was a particularly special occasion for one founding student. Caoimhe Campus became Coláiste Chú Chulainn’s first ever prize winner when she scooped first prize in the highly contested student competition to design the new school crest. Caoimhe’s detailed and artistic proposal for the school crest was selected from a wealth of entries that showcased the talent on its way to Coláiste Chú Chulainn. The winning design is now in the hands of the school’s design team who will work with Caoimhe’s inspirational ideas to define the school crest. Watch this space for photos of the school crest in pride of place on the Coláiste Chú Chulainn uniform in the coming months. Well done Caoimhe!
Coláiste Chú Chulainn will open its doors to its first cohort of students in September of this year. The school will reside in Chapel St., Dundalk alongside its all-Irish sister school Coláiste Lú, until their new state of the art education campus opens at the Marshes in the 2015/16 school year. Parents, students and teachers alike were delighted with this vital opportunity to participate in the school forum and to contribute to the future of Coláiste Chú Chulainn.
