Pajo the Calf, Ireland’s celebrity calf, paid a flying visit to Boyle Sport’s headquarters on Thursday to demonstrate his uncanny knowledge of all things GAA, and crucially to predict the winner of the All Ireland.
Pajo predicted that Mayo will lift the Sam Maguire after decades of heartbreak and dud campaigns for the Westerners.
The 10 week old calf travelled from Aughmullen outside of Castleblayney to make his predictions, which were witnessed by members of the press and employees of Boyle Sport’s.
“He picked the teams I would have gone for,” says Alan Sheridan, Pajo’s 21-year-old manager. “I think he will be watching the match too.”
Everyone present agreed that Pajo did a fine job picking the winner, though Pajo himself seemed more concerned with helping keep Boyle Sport’s grass in order.
“He loves the grass here. It gets cut often so it would be sweeter,” suggested Alan.
Pajo was initially wearing a pair of Monaghan shorts at the photo shoot, but he decided to cast them aside.
However, like the true professional he has become, he was happy enough to fly the Boyle Sports colours for the photoshoot.
Some reports suggest Pajo is psychic but the Democrat understands that his prediction are based on an inherent understanding of the game.
While the Democrat was there, Pajo also predicted a Dublin win over Kerry.
Leon Blanche from Boylesports said that Pajo has a good track record.
“This calf is very special indeed he was quite able to predict Monaghan’s result all throughout Ulster,” he said.
“Some might say that Monaghan might have won their quarter-final had Pajo been in charge.”
Pajo rose to fame in recent months after a picture of him was posted on Facebook. Pajo received many thousands of likes, catapulting him into stardom.
Pajo has now appeared across on national TV, in the national press and is set to make an appearance on the new season of the Late Late Show.
