Sun makes Louth people happier

It’s official. As Ireland’s summer of 2013 winds to a close it can now be officially declared as one of the sunniest, both weather-wise and in terms of the mood of that nation!

It’s official. As Ireland’s summer of 2013 winds to a close it can now be officially declared as one of the sunniest, both weather-wise and in terms of the mood of that nation!

The majority of Louth adults surveyed¹ (91%) gave the sunny weather during the summer of 2013 the thumbs up saying it made them feel happy (73%) cheerful (63%) and energised (54%) according to the Vodafone #FollowTheFeeling barometer. Ninety two per cent also said sunny days made them feel more positive about life, smile more (95%) and made it easier to get up in the morning (94%). The barometer was commissioned to explore the mood of the nation as Vodafone - and thousands of festival goers - follow the festival feeling to Electric Picnic², the final festival in their Centre Stage³ series of music and arts festivals sponsorships this year.

Those surveyed across Louth were asked what they were able to do this summer over previous ones. Being able to wear their sun holiday wardrobe at home (82%) was the biggest bonus followed by planning a BBQ without a brolly or a heater (78%). Louth people’s generally cheery disposition shone through as most people admitted that they didn’t mind the constant stream of social media updates from friends and families’ on their sun exploits .
