PREPARATIONS are under way for Dundalk Musical Society’s upcoming production “Broadway and Beyond” which features music from some of Broadway’s best loved shows.

This exciting new production features songs and scenes from some of Broadway’s best known shows including Mamma Mia, Chicago and Hairspray.

Broadway and Beyond will take place in An Tain Theatre at Dundalk Town Hall on Friday, April 27 and Saturday, April 28 at 8pm nightly.

A cast of over 60 children and adults have been busy rehearsing and perfecting their routines for the last two months. According to Dundalk Musical Society, the show promises to entertain both the young and the young at heart.

The production aims to bring patrons on a musical journey through the different ages of Broadway. Apart from Mamma Mian, Hairspray and Chicago, it will feature fully costumed excerpts from hit shows such as Wicked, Little Shop of Horrors and Blood Brothers.

The children will perform classics such as Bugsy Malone, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and Mary Poppins. A nostalgic nod to Western and London musicals will see the society perform classic songs from Oklahoma, Calamity Jane, Oliver and My Fair Lady.

Direction and Choreography is in the hands of Robert Murphy and Sarah Carpenter - the dynamic duo who were involved in the pantomime ‘Cinderella’.

Geraldine Casey is in charge of musical direction as Chorus Mistress and Mary McCague is Musical Director. Early booking is advised. Tickets cost e12 and are available from An Tain Box Office on 042-9392919.
