X Factor young guns “The Risk” fly in to Ireland this weekend to play their first live gig in Monaghan’s most popular club, Vanity of Carrickmacross, on Saturday 17 December.

Derry, Andrew, Charlie and Ashford of the band will perform a 45-minute set live on stage with local support coming from “North East Got Talent” winners “Hanna, Hush!” and Sharon McCluskey. The lads will sign autographs after the gig. Vanity promoter Seamus “Banty” McEnaney, who is a big fan of X Factor said, he was “delighted to get them to perform at Vanity Carrickmacross so soon before the Christmas holidays.

The Risk are five young lads who were put together on The UK X Factor series 2011. Originally auditioning as individual contestants, the boys were chosen to form a new band at the bootcamp stage of the competition after failing to get through on their own.

Their first ever performance together was eagerly anticipated on the live show, and didn’t disappoint with a slick version of Plan B’s “She Said”.

The Risk impressed with their tight harmonies when they sang “Just the Way You Are”, by Bruno Mars.

Given a lifeline by the judge’s – The Risk were formed, and simply never looked back.

Originally consisting of five members (Marlon McKenzie was given the boot along with Mitchell McPike) the group got through to the live finals of X Factor after being re-jigged with the introduction of Charlie Healy from his original band, The Keys.

The Risk sailed through the first few weeks of the live shows, and have already built up a huge following.

Doors open at 7pm, with the Risk taking to the stage at 8pm. Tickets are €15 plus booking and are available from ticketmaster.ie and the Fiddlers Elbow Main Street Carrickmacross.
