DUNDALK film director John Moore has been earmarked as the first choice director for latest installment of the ever popular Die Hard franchise.
According to movie website Twitch, Moore has been told that he is first choice for the film after the original director had to cry off due to an overly demanding schedule on Xerxes, the anticpated prequel to 300.
The latest Die Hard will see hero John McClane (Bruce Willis) team up with his son in a bid to foil criminal forces in Russia.
The director of Behind Enemy Lines and Max Payne, 41-year-old Moore hails from the St Clement Park on the Point Road but but now lives in LA.
He went to a technical college in Dublin where he studied filmmaking and after completing the school he went on to direct and write a series of short films all produced in Ireland.
Moore has one child, called by Buzz, by his partner is Fiona Connon who is a makeup artist whom he met through an industry friend early in his career in Ireland. He also sponsors several charities and film orientated events here in Ireland.
Ageing actor Bruce Willis, who starred in the first four Die Hard films, said last year that shooting on the fifth film is likely to go ahead in 2011. The actor also admitted that he only wants to do two more films in the action franchise.
“In the next few years they could easily find a replacement for me or call the character someone else,” he said. “But for me, I want to do Die Hard 5, then one final Die Hard movie - Die Hard 6 - before finally hanging that white vest up for good.
“At the moment, I can run and I can fight on screen. But there will come a time when I no longer want to do that. That’s when I’ll step away from the Die Hard films.”
