Una leaves Dunleer for new teaching post

ONE of Scoil Ui Mhuiri’s most distinguished teachers Ms Úna Kirk is leaving the mid-louth school to take up the post of deputy principal at St Oliver’s Community College Drogheda.

ONE of Scoil Ui Mhuiri’s most distinguished teachers Ms Úna Kirk is leaving the mid-louth school to take up the post of deputy principal at St Oliver’s Community College Drogheda.

Úna replaces Mr John Halpin who was recently promoted to the position of principal at the school. She taught English and Irish at Scoil Uí Mhuirí. Úna has been assistant principal and year head at Scoil Uí Mhuirí since 2007 and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Higher Diploma in Education from UCD, as well as a Masters Degree in Education where she specialised in the co-ordination and implementation of Social, Personal and Health Education in post-primary schools.

Úna brings a wealth of experience to her new role including twenty years of classroom teaching, pastoral care, school policy and curriculum development, subject department co-ordination and public relations experience in education.

Úna is currently the staff representative on the Committee of Co. Louth VEC and also sits on the steering committee of the new Music Generation Louth initiative which commences in September.
