LOCAL cycling enthusiasts are being invited to take part in a biking trek across the Cooley Mountains to celebrate National Trails Day.

The Cuchulainn Mountain Bike Spin is one of many local events taking place across the country on Sunday, October 2 for National Trails Day.

The event is being hosted by the Cuchulainn Cycle Club in association with Coillte and cyclists of all levels are invited to join in the event.

All you need is a bike and a helmet. Pre-registration is not required. Participants are meeting with fellow cyclists at 9.45am on October 2 at Lumpers Pub carpark.

The trail will begin along a Coillte forest road, and finish up back at Lumpers Pub. All skill levels are welcome and the duration of the trail is approximately three hours.

National Trails Day aims to highlight Ireland’s wonderful trails. According to the organisers, it provides a chance for everybody to get out and enjoy wonderful views and scenery.

National Trails day is supported nationally by Coillte, Leave No Trace Ireland, Fáilte Ireland, the National Trails Office and the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht.
