THE Dolmen Theatre Group are making a welcome return to the Town Hall stage in Dundalk with a production of Alan Ayckburn’s classic comedy “Bedroom Farce”.

Ayckburn has been one of the most prolific and successful playwrights over the last 30 to 40 years. Bedroom Farce ran successfully in the West End for several years, with a number of revivals and was presented on Broadway and was made into a film for TV.

However, his works are rarely produced by Irish amateur groups. Bedroom Farce is due to open on November 9 and is running until November 13.

Dolmen are confident they are up to the challenge of staging a successful production of one of Ayckburn’s plays. They have spent long hours rehearsing and preparing for the show.

“The title hints of a raunchy romp, however, in actual fact the plot is a much more an incisive and humorous look at the relationships of four intertwined couples and how the facade of harmony can be easily stripped away as matters unfold,” said a spokesperson for Dolmen Theatre Group.

The cast includes Jack Montgomery, Jan Connolly, Ciaran Lawless, Pauline Wilson, Carolann White, Gerry O’Hara, Paul Magee and Gabriel Twomey.

The production is in the hands of Gerry Roddy and Una Kirk and the stage management is being provided by Marcella Harrison.

This sophisticated comedy has had audiences rocking in the aisle for several years in many countries and Dolmen are hoping this will be replicated in the Town Hall next month.
