teenage pop sensation Justin Bieber was snapped with fans in Australia wearing a hoodie designed in Dundalk for a local dance group.
The 18-year-old Canadian who shot to fame with hits such as ‘Baby’ and ‘Favourite Girl’ borrowed the black hoodie from his dancer while on tour Down Under.
The hoodie was commissioned by the founder of ‘Crystal Ice Dance Academy’ Emanuella Solako and designed by ‘Priority Printing’ on Bridge Street.
Emanuella from the Avenue Road told The Dundalk Democrat that she had the hoodie made specially for one of Bieber’s dancers.
“I’m friends with Marvin Mallora, one of Justin’s dancers. When Justin came to Ireland recently for a concert, I asked Marvin if he would like to do a workshop with my students in Dundalk,” she said.
“When Marvin agreed to do the workshop I had the hoodie made for him as a present. It even has his name on it just under the Crystal Ice logo.”
Emanuella explained that soon afterwards she was contacted on Facebook by Sam Trent, a Justin Bieber fan in Australia who had met the singer at a concert.
“Sam told me that when he met Justin he was wearing the Crystal Ice hoody. He really liked it and wanted to get the same one so he Googled ‘Crystal Ice Dance Academy’ and he found me on Facebook,” she said.
“When Sam sent me the photographs of him with Justin, I couldn’t believe that he was actually wearing my hoodie. It was amazing.
“I had three more hoodies made for Sam and his friends and sent them to Australia. Now lots of Sam’s friends are contacting me and asking if they can buy a Justin hoodie.”
Emanuella added: “I contacted Justin’s dancer and asked him how he ended up wearing my hoody and he told me that Justin had come into his dressing room one day and asked to borrow it.
“Marvin said Justin was feeling unwell and he needed to wear something warm so he offered him the Crystal Ice hoodie. Marvin said he really liked it and wore it for two days.”
Emanuella is currently staging ‘Prodigy 2’, a new show at An Tain Theatre on August 25 and 26 from 7pm. Tickets cost e12 and are on sale at An Tain box office.
