AFTER SYBIL the Blackrock vintage clothing shop is gaining quite a National reputation recently validated by their inclusion in a Sunday World feature on the best vintage outlets in Ireland.
Owner, Aine’s keen eye for quality and iconic vintage pieces is the key to putting this little shop in our village of Blackrock on the national map and her clothing was even featured on TV3’s Expose last year, with rave reviews.
Recently, if she’s not being featured on television, the Blackrock Vintage Specialist, Aine, is in the national papers or magazines. Fashion stylists have been quick to notice and indeed are not shy of paying attention, visiting and sourcing from After Sybil for dressing celebrities for red carpet events, T.V. appearances and fashion shoots.
Aine is keen to capitalise on the latest Vintage craze, “Vintage is hot fashion news. Every week the fashion pages are featuring vintage looks & trends. This summer’s season is all about the 70’s with floaty dresses and floral prints, lace and chiffon materials’.
“Vintage Clothing has no longer just a cult following, it has now moved into the main stream and holding its own on the main stage of fashion. The High Street Shops are very aware of this and are trying to compete by imitating and putting out vintage “Styled” dresses’.
But as Aine says “Why fake it when you can have the real thing. If you haven’t noticed at every red carpet event there is always an A-List Celeb in an original vintage dress and it doesn’t stop there, Kate Moss a vintage fashion icon recently just got herself a vintage engagement ring, whats the odds on her having an original vintage wedding dress. New designers like Victoria Beckham hit the fashion catwalk heights because of her reproduction of the classic 1960’s Wiggle Dress. Programmes like “Mad Men” have soared in popularity and so have raised the profile of original vintage clothing. Betty Draper is the new Carrie for all women for this season and the next decade’.
