TV success for Prodijig

A 22-year-old Dundalk man’s dance troupe - Prodijig - is among the first two acts to be voted in to next month’s Got To Dance 2012 grand final at London’s Olympia.
Darren Casey from Fatima triumphed in last Sunday’s (January 29) public vote after Prodijig, a seven-strong troupe, received three gold stars from the judges.
A former De La Salle student, he joined Mona Ni Rodaigh’s dance school when he was six years old and went on to become a member of Riverdance. His mother, Linda, is thrilled with the win.
“I’m still on a high after it. It was unbelievable. We are heading over for the final now on the 4th of March,” she said.
Judge Adam Garcia told them: “In your audition I said you were mind blowing. Tonight, I was so trying to pick something apart from your performance. You know what, I can’t. There can be no argument. Amazing.”
Former Pussycat Doll Kimberly Wyatt said: “They dance like champions”, while Diversity lead choreographer Ashley Banjo added: “I don’t know if I’ve ever wanted an act in the final as much as I want you.”
Got To Dance continues next Sunday at 6pm on Sky 1 (HD), when eight more dancers will compete for the next two final places and the chance to win the £250,000 prize.
Prodijig is made up of seven Irish dancers, five boys and two girls, ranging in age from 21 to 27, from the current professional Riverdance’ tour.
They have incorporated hip hop and Rn’B music, non-traditional outfits and have broken away from the norms of the Irish dancing tradition.
