37-year-old killed on M1 motorway near Castlebellingham

A 37-year-old Co Down man was killed on the M1 motorway at the weekend.
Adrian Durr, from Banbridge, Co Down was apparently struck by another vehicle as he exited his vehicle on Friday night at around 8.50pm.

GardaĆ­ are appealing for witnesses following the accident which happened near Castlebellingham.

The section of the M1 near the scene of the accident was closed temporarily, but has now re-opened.

An ambulance and two paramedic teams rushed to the scene, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, where a post-mortem examination was due to take place this afternoon.

The driver of the car that struck the man is understood was not seriously injured.
