College Heights residents clamp down on illegal parking
Ongoing parking issue have led a local residents’ association to take action with a veiw to introducing clamping in a local estate. Large volumes of drivers park their cars in drive ways, footpath, green spaces and in some cases, in the the middle of the road in College Manor and College Heights.
Residents in the development claim that both staff and students from DKiT are parking their cars illegally in the nearby estates.
“Clamping is still ongoing,” said John Temple, Chairman of The College Manor Residents Association.
He added that he believes the estate is being use as a car park by people who don’t want to pay to park in the DKiT car park.
“If any of the emergency authorities such as the fire brigade or ambulance needed to get down some of the streets, they would never be able to gain acess,” he said.
“We have held discussions with the DKiT and they are encouraging staff and students to use public transport.
Additional parking is now being sought in the estate, he added.
“Because of the parking issue we are now going to allocate resident parking spaces at the duplex apartments,” he explained.
“The management company is also clamping in College Heights,”
It is expected the management company will tender for a security company in the coming weeks.
